About the Author

Skylar Wren, born and raised in Mar Vista, California, is a writer with a deep connection to wildlife and nature, cultivated through years of volunteer work at animal sanctuaries and personal journeys through the rugged wilderness of Big Sur. The daughter of a retired screen actor, Skylar chose to carve her own path, dedicating herself to causes close to her heart.

Skylar’s life took a profound turn when her sister was involved in a serious car accident that left her paralyzed on one side. During her sister’s recovery, Skylar was deeply inspired by the resilience and determination she witnessed. This experience, combined with her growing concern for environmental destruction, particularly the plight of species like sharks, led to the creation of her first book, Swim.

Swim reflects Skylar’s personal journey, blending themes of hope, perseverance, and self-acceptance with a narrative about Marty, a shark born with a deformed fin.
